Pow Wow 2012

Taking Care of the Tribe 2012 Pow Wow
 
March 24th, 2012

NAAP is very excited to announce that our 6th Annual Taking Care of the Tribe 2012 Pow Wow, commemorating National Native American HIV/AIDS Awareness Day will be held on Saturday, March 24th, 2012 in Oakland. This year we will be holding the Pow Wow in a traditional Omaha (Hethuska) style with both morning and evening sessions! See our flyer for more information. Date: Saturday, March 24th, 2012
Location: Mc Clymonds High School, 2607 Myrtle St, Oakland, CA
Time: 12:00pm until 9:00pm

All dancers who sign in and stay fully dressed will be paid at the end of each session. There will be no grand entry. The Whipman and his chosen four tail dancers will begin the dancing with the men present, afterwards, the women will be invited to join in, in the arena. We will start with a morning session and an exhibition dancing. Later, NAAP's Board of Directors will be sponsoring a feed at dinner break; follow by an evening session. MC, Tom Philips, will help to direct the Pow Wow. Guest singer Tim Grant from Macy, Nebraska, will be the head singer - he sings with the Whitetail drum. We will also have raffles, a taco booth, arts & craft vendors for everyone to shop at. ALL DANCERS AND DRUMMERS, SINGERS WELCOME! If interested in having a booth please contact NAAP at 415-431-6227.

Native American AIDS Project will be holding our Sunrise Ceremony on the Spring Equinox Tuesday, March 20th, 2012. NAAP in recognition of National Native American AIDS Awareness Day cordially invites you to the Sunrise Ceremony on March 20th, 2012 at the Civic Center Plaza (in front of the City Hall). Breakfast reception to follow at: Asian and Pacific Islander Wellness Center, 730 Polk Street, San Francisco. This is an event in collaboration with: Asian and Pacific Islander Wellness Center and  Native American Health Center. You can follow our Facebook Event for more details.
